Jennifer Fisher

The Non-Gatekeeper

Season 001 / Episode 004 · June 9, 2026 · 55 min

Today’s conversation is with the incredible Jennifer Fisher: jewelry designer, entrepreneur, cookbook author, and all-around force of nature. Jennifer opens up about growing up in Santa Barbara before becoming a true New Yorker, her early career as a commercial stylist, and how a health journey through chemotherapy and Hashimoto’s led her to build not just a jewelry empire, but an entire lifestyle brand rooted in radical honesty. We talk about the original Jennifer Fisher dog tag, how her salt took over the internet, her cookbook Trust Your Gut, and why being your most authentic and imperfect self is the only real brand strategy that works.

Tune in for Jen’s thoughts about fearlessness, the long game of building something real, and the joy of trusting your gut.

Three Questions on Time

Take Your Time Back

  1. If everything on your calendar tomorrow was canceled, what would you do?

I would text my Pilates instructor Amy and go see her in person, then meet my girlfriends for lunch — two things I almost never get to do.

  2. Time is the only thing you can’t fake. What’s something you could have only learned over time?

To truly be your authentic self. I spent so many years thinking I had to be something else — living insecure, living fearful. That was an absolute waste of time.

  3. When does time stand still for you?

With my kids, when something important happens. When my son leaves for abroad tonight, or when my daughter calls with good news — everything stops and it’s like that’s all that matters.

In Her Words

  • “It’s easier not to lie.”
  • “I’ve been kicked, I’ve been fired. And every day I’m like kicked and punched. You have to put your big girl panties on and boss up.”
  • “I love what I do. I’m passionate about what I do. To me, being a workaholic is not good — but being passionate? That’s different.”
  • “Don’t be afraid to fail. People are so obsessed with this perfect, highly curated version of what a brand is. That’s not me.”
  • “It’s taken 20 years to build this brand. People think they can throw some jewelry on Instagram and create a brand. Nine times out of ten, no.”
  • “We have one time on this planet, in this body, as us. So you should take that opportunity to be your best self.”
  • “I lived insecure. I lived fearfully. I lived not fully as myself because I thought I had to be something else. And that was a waste of fucking time.”
